Carnival Morris: It is hard to fit Carnival Morris or "fluffy morris" (derogatory) into the schema of morris traditions partly because there is almost no literature on it. Mike Heaney notes in his morris bibliography: "This is a twentieth-century development from North-West morris. Because of this, and because of the fact that it is danced almost exclusively by young girls, "purists" have often tried to deny its place in descriptions of traditional ceremonial dance forms; but it is difficult to formulate a defensible definition of morris which excludes it. ...
